I am now in chapter three of that book I was reading, and it has moved on from dreams to standards/idols. One thing that continually strikes me as absurd, is the people who will follow the lives of fictional characters. Even to the point of know their hobbies! No offense intended to those that do, we all have our down falls. :) But, seriously Why would you follow the life of someone who doesn't exist and who you'll never know? The number one thing that shapes the way you live in society the people around you and the ones you follow. I'm not saying it's wrong to know who plays on the Miami Heet, I'm saying it's wrong to make them an idol. Which is what most of us do. When we spend the most part of each day filling ourselves with information about the world and who's in it, we forget about the important things. Like who Jesus Christ is. Can you tell me what Jesus' hobbies were? I doubt it. Can you quote Jesus' favorite sayings from the Bible? I can't. When we can rattle off almost every Basketball player, baseball player, TV show, actor, or beer, But can't quote more then 10 verses of the Bible from Memory, then my friend something is wrong. who created us? God or the things in the world? Who gave us their life so we could live? God or the things in this world?
God created us and requires certain things of us. Like to not be filled with the things of this world. 1 John 2:15, "Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the father is not in him." 'Nough said.
The maintenance guys finally tore down my ceiling. Now they just have to finish getting all the mold out and spray it all down with clorox. I took this opportunity to go into town and look for bow stuff, but I never found what I was looking for. but it was a lovely drive. I enjoyed it. I love to drive. Needless to say though, I'm way behind where I should be in my challenge, and will probably have to be up late tonight to finish it.
