FOOD FOR THOUGHT

Proverbs 1:20-33    20   "Wisdom crieth without she uttereth her voice in the streets.   21 She crieth in the chief place of concourse, in the opening of the gates, in the city she uttereth her words, saying, 22 How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity, and the scorners delight in their scorning, and fools hate knowledge?  23 Turn you at my reproof, behold, I will poor out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you.  24Because I have called, and ye refused, I have stretched out my hand, and no man regarded.  25 But ye set at nought all my council, and would none of my reproof.  26 I also will laugh at your calamity, I will mock when you fear cometh.  27 when your fear cometh as desolation, and your destruction cometh as a whirl wind, when distress and anguish cometh upon you. 28 Then shall they call upon me, but I will not answer, they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me.  29 For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the Lord. 30 They would none of my council, they despised all my reproof.   31 therefore, shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own devices.  32 For the turning away of the simple shall slay them, and the prosperity of fools shall destroy them. 33 But whoso harkeneth unto me shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil."           This passage means a lot to me, and I just had a new revelation. I hope I can relay it accurately enough for you to understand.  I think to start it off we should go through this passage on part at a time.           The first part consists of the first two verses. These two verses lets us know just how readily available Wisdom really is. Very.  In Bible days the gates were where most of the traffic was, so with this analogy we understand that it was envy where. You just had to want it.  The next two is an example of what wisdom is saying. We cant hear her because we don't want to hear her.  Then in the next two it describes our reaction to her call when we do hear her. We shun her. Despise her. Then through verse 30 it is describing what will happen if we discard her. We will be eaten by our of lusts. Then in 31 and 32 it also goes to describe what will happen to us. In verse 33, however, we start to see the light. It describes what Wisdom will do if we embrace her. She will protect us.         Now to what this is all about. You see I was probably like most of you when you read through proverbs 1, like great, Good to know, or perhaps, I'll keep that in mind. But do you realize how important this portion of scripture is? It is a given, or un-mentioned, an understood,  that if you don't seek wisdom, Gods wisdom, then all the bad stuff will just automatically happen. That is scary!          My point? If we are not following what God says, then we are already doing what he says not to do. And, therefore, His enemies.     More food for thought.
