Diving Finished And More To Come

We are now done with SRD div training. It was fun, but I'm kind of glad it is over!  Next week we will be starting RS1. and after that deployment. Things are starting to shape up as well for the next ten weeks. There is a lot to cover, I just hope I have enough time to write about it all.

So this week was mid-term evals. Evals are something we do so that we can see the areas we need to grow in. I have a lot. Everyone writes one eval for each person. For my unit this means I have 10 evals for each person I have to go through, we have 11 people total. It is my job as the First Sergent to compile them and enter them into the data base. After that I take the finished product and go over with each guy what he needs to work on. I know it may not sound like a lot of work, but trust me it is. It takes me between 30 min and an hour to do one person. But that is evals in a BIG nut shell.

Ok so this past week has been crazy! Like I said before I ERT was doing SRD training, but I realize that most of you dont know what that is, or entails. SRD stands for Special Response Diver. Basically it is learning how to do under water search and recovery.  The instructor for this class is Captain Micheil Gast. He is basically the father of the National Police Academy of Diving. He is a great instructor. We do a lot of diving where most people would never go diving. From really cold to black water where you put your hand on your mask and still can not see it.

This week we are back to our normal schedule. Getting up at 4 and going to bed about midnight. Its rough yes, but I have learned that if it is for a godly cause then God will give you strength to survive the next day. For as long as it takes. The SMAJ and I don't get a lot of sleep. most of the time we are only running on a maximum of 5 hours. But every now and then we are able to catch a cat nap. During the day things are generally slow so that also helps.  Also we have a coffee shop on campus, that really helps!

I know a lot of these short paragraphs are not really related to each other in any way, but it works best for me this way. I am most of the time a random talker, so reading this should be very similar to talking to me. And by the way, if any of y'all ever just want to talk to me you most certainly can, I am on staff so you can just call my cell phone any time. The number, is 1870-656-5119. The best time to get a hold of me would be in the afternoons or evenings.

I am going to do a test and see just how many people from my church are following this blog. Here's the test, I am probably, as of right now, going to be going to the fall church picnic. I have a friend who is going to fly me down for the night. Now the test is that if you read this, then you cant tell anyone, and when I get there I will see who all was expecting me.

I know you might be reading this at a different time then when I wrote, but that is because I want to make sure I get a good amount in here for you to read. And I dont always have a lot of time to write. Like today, I wrote a little this morning and I am going to write even more tonight! It may take a little while to get it done but I think it will be worth it.

Well unfortunately it looks like I might not get to go to the picnic after all. There is another guy who had reserved the pilot for that weekend, and he is flying all the way to New Mexico. But I am going to try and convince them to take me home first the fly back to AR and pick me up. It is kinda out of the way for them so I don't know that they will be able to do it. But I figure it is worth a shot.

We are going on deployment to North Dakota on the fifth of September. We will be working with the Samaritans Purse to help clean out the damage in the homes from the major flooding that has been going on up there. It will be about a two day drive, but we will be there for two weeks so it will be worth it.

I guess I should go ahead and post this now, but I will be updating it regularly so don't just read and then think that this is everything. So until next time, Bye.
