Day 26

Today is actually Sunday. The sermon was on, as can be expected, honoring mothers. One of the points the paster touches on was honoring a mother who you despise. How can you love someone you don't even respect? Well Jesus showed us how with his life while he was on earth. He submitted to those who hated him, and died for those who killed him. Why? So they would be considered righteous. It's called self sacrificial love. Putting others before themselves. Most of the problems in families today have to do with children not honoring their parents. Not to say that's its completely the kids fault. It does need to come from both sides. Love should be a two way street. However I think it's easy for parents to get caught up in making sure the kids do right, that they forget to reward them for doing right. The kids, then, see this as rejection and lose their respect for their parents. So it definitely needs to be a two way street. Now there is one catch to sharing our love with others, we cannot do this correctly without letting Jesus flow through us.
