JOY

One of the many things Christians over look, (especially those of us who seem to spend more time on the ground then standing), is the joy Christ gives us through his salvation.

What inspired this post, was a pastor at a church I went to two weeks ago. He was doing a sermon on the Joy Christians have. But he did something that most people do without realizing it. He mixed happiness and Joy together, so that you couldn't tell the two apart. What is the difference? Here is my take on it.

Happiness.

Happiness is what we get when something good happens to us. Like hitting a home run, or making the game winning shot, or when you see someone you haven't seen in a log time. This feeling of excitement only last for a moment, and then its gone. you're up on a mountain one minuet, and down in a valley the next. It's temporal.

Joy.

Joy, however, is something which we on our own can not achieve. It is something Christ gives us. I don't believe the lost can experience true Joy. All they get is happiness. We have joy because Christ came and died for us, showed us our sins, took them away, and gave us eternal life. Us living with Jesus for all eternity, that is Joy. Also one of the best parts of Joy, is it cant be taken away. Yes you can still become sad, but your Joy in Christ will always be there for you. Just like Jesus is always there for you.

I pray that you will experience the Joy of Christ each and every day as you walk through this dark world. And may you shine as the light of Jesus for all to see and glorify your father who is in heaven.
