So now begins the long awaited post. Why is this one so special? Because it covers a change and determination that will never stop changing me.
In an earlier post I made mention of a study I am doing on what the Bible says about being a man. And in this study I have found that it says very little directly to that point. The few points that I have found so far are as follows; a man is to have righteousness, wisdom, knowledge, understanding, humility, boldness, discernment, mercy, pureness, patience, faithfulness, holiness, and the fear of the Lord.(there are a lot more) Most of all of these are found in proverbs. Other than this it really doesn't say a whole lot . But rather it gives us examples of how we are to live. I am going to write the lyrics of a song which I believe describes this in a good way. "A Few Good Men"
"what this dying world could use is a willing man of God. A man who goes against the grain and works whiteout applause; a man holds the shield of protecting what is pure. A man who's tough and gentle a man who's word is sure.
God doesn't need an orator who noes just what to say; He doesn't need authorities to reason him away. He doesn't need and army to guaranty a win. He just needs a few good men.
Men full of compassion who laugh and love and cry; Men who will face eternity and aren't afraid to die. Men who will fight for freedom and honor once again. He just needs a few good men.".
This explains most of how I want my own life to be like. A man. A true man. The modern western culture has twisted what being a man really looks like to the point where if you ask some one what a man is, a good number would probably say "what? Am I not a man?". And the answer to that would probably be no you're not. At least not what the Bible describes a man as. You see we have to first decide what we are going to measure ourselves up to. The world, or Christ. And if we don't consciously and purposely choose Christ, then we automatically choose the world. We were born in the world not in Christ. We can't change that until we are born again in Christ; salvation. Even then we are still in the world, we are just no longer of the world. And because we are still in the world we constantly have to choose Christ. The Bible tells us this when it says to pic up our cross daily and follow him. Until we consciously choose every day to use Christ as our measure of a man, then we are still 'of' the world. This doesn't just pertain to being a man, but also our salvation and living out our salvation. ( if are not living out our salvation, then we must question our salvation). Salvation is more then just a prayer and walk on. And it's more then a prayer and going to church. Paul says it this way, you show me your works by your faith, and I will show you my faith by my works. Christianity is not a work based faith only in the actual salvation act. After that it very much centered around acts. Whether it's continuing to grow daily in your own spirituality, or to go witnessing every day, you have to do something. Or your faith is dead! What pleases God? Faith. And what is faith? Dependence on God. And what is faith without works? Dead!
Once you are born again and depending on God then the Holy Spirit comes into your life and begins to convict you of the sin in your life. At this point we have two different beliefs. One would say that it is then your responsibility to take action a get rid of the sin. The other would say that it can't be your responsibilty because then when you got rid of it you would get the credit, and in that be putting yourself above God. I'm personally not sure yet because I have not found a definitive answer that completely proves the other to be wrong. But for now I am siding with it being your responsibility.
Failures. Satan would have you believe that because of you failures and because you will continue to fail, that it is impossible to het up and move forward. But I am here to tell you it is a lie! In Micah 7:8-9 it says "Rejoice not against me, o mine enemies; when I fall I shall arise, when I sit in darkness the Lord shall be a light unto me. I will bare the indignation of the Lord, because I have sinned against him, until he plead my cause, and execute judgement for me: He will bring me forth to the light, and I shall behold his righteousness." you see everything we do in the flesh will effect us in the spiritual! It is through experience that I know this to be true. And it is as they say; experience may be the best way to learn, but it is Very costly! It is through my own personal failures, and the grace of God that I have grown to where I am now. As there is a silver lining behind every cloud, so behind every failure there is an opportunity for greatness. We just have to be courageous and stand our ground. Which is one thing I struggle with. Standing my ground.
Two words, others and love. It is my personal belief that these two words sum up all of what I have been studying, and writing. Christ came to earth for others, he died on the cross for others, rose again for others, and he lives for others. Others describes Christ' love for us and love describes everything that we should be. So between the two of them they cover everything!
History. Now you know somewhat whee I am, but what about where I have been. Well if I write anything at all about my past it will be short and brief because the Bible tells us not to dwell on the things of the past. And it's not about what you did, but about what you are doing right now! however, if you really want to know about my sinful past, then ask away because my life is an open book.
So that's about all for this post. But I do already have stuff for another...
Wow. I really needed to read this...Thanks for posting and allowing God to speak through you :)
