Pretend You Have A Car, A DVR, And Friends

No need to worry, the title has nothing to do with what I am going to write about. :)
I think I am going to write about what God is doing in my life write now. I know I said I was going to write on prayer, and it is something God has been working on with me, but there are other things he has been working more.

The number one thing I have been working on these past couple of weeks has been walking in holiness.  First what is holiness? Holiness has a couple of definitions, set apart, sanctification, purification.  In the sanctification or purification of a person people will generally either say that God is the only one that can take away their sin, or they will say their sins are justified by their works. What they must realize, is it isn't an either/or thing, but, rather a both/and process. Part of the sanctification or purification process is our responsibility. When Christ died for our sins on the cross and washed us white as snow, He washed our spirit, not our flesh. Therefore we still have this indwelling sin within us. Taking care of this sin, dealing with it is our part/responsibility. "For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the spirit put to death the misdeeds of the body, ye shall live" (Romans 8:13).  "put to death, therefore, what ever belongs to your earthly nature" (Col. 3:5).  "Wherefore seeing we are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily besets us, and let us run with patience the race which is set before us" (Heb. 12:1). and finally James 4:7 says "Resist the devil and he will flee from you".  What do all of these verses have in common? They all tell of something that we are responsible for.  In Colossians it says "put to death" as like a command would be as well as in Hebrews where it says "lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily besets us". They say to do something, which means we have to do something, which means it is our responsibility. However, you might still say that whatever we do in the flesh is of no profit. But, if I'm not mistaken, then the Bible only refers to that when speaking about bodily exercise. I think that Romans sums it up very well when it says "...but if ye THROUGH the SPIRIT put to death the misdeeds of the body...". It is our responsibility to take action against the sin, but we don't do it in our own strength, no, we use the strength of the Holy Spirit within us. The Holy Spirit has the responsibility of providing the power, we have the responsibility of providing the action.

So that is, in a nut shell, what God has been teaching me. Its been very exciting and I can't wait to see what He does next in my life!

Until next time, may God BLESS YOU!
