I'm Back

Ok, so a lot has transpired sense the last time I posted anything on here! And a lot has changed for me! God has brought me soo far this past week that I am just SO FULL of His JOY!!  He has been teaching me to store up my treasures in heaven rather then the things of this world. So I shall begin my story a little over a week ago as I arrive at ALERT. I arrived under the pretenses that I would be a wing leader for ERT. However, that wasn't what God had for me. I can remember it as though it were yesterday. I was sitting in that old couch of Maj. Behrs, the one that sits so low you have to stain to see the top of his desk. He looked down at me with those gold leaves weighing his shoulders down, and said to me, "son your not the wing leader, your the ONLY leader". So, as a result the next three days were spent preparing what lied ahead. But I had no clue what I was getting myself into. It had been two years sense I was in ERT. I spent those three days on my face. Praying, reading the Bible, and putting together wisdom searches. Before I knew it, it was Saturday and the men were here. Boy was I scared. All I did that day was stay at the dorm and welcome men back into the Battalion. That Sunday was a good day, And I thank God for a day where we can slow down and rest. So I rested on Sunday and welcomed the late comers.
Then came Monday. It was this day that I learned I had two titles and two different responsibilities under them. The first title I had received while sitting at Maj. Behrs desk, that title is First Sergeant of ERT. And the second title they just kinda tagged on me, that title is assistant Sergeant Major. both of these positions come with responsibilities that mainly take place in the morning and at night. So mid day naps are GREAT! that night ERT had what they call a "gig party". But dont be fooled, it was nothing like a party. Unless, you consider aching muscles and swimming in a pool of sweat a party. they ended up with 250 gigs that day.
On Tuesday things weren't quite so bad. I was starting to remember the guys names without prompting anymore and they were starting to realize how different this ERT would be. On this day they received 150 gigs, and as a result, another gig party. But they were starting to get some of the things clean. Also this day the standards were set for inspections.
Wednesday. This was a bit chaotic. It wasn't really that things were all messed up, it was more like we wanted to succeed and so we kept coming up with a lot of different ideas as to how we could do our job better. We just didn't know how to go about doing all of the things we wanted to. That night we had a battalion impact meeting at Maj. Behrs house. It was a really good meeting. And because of the things that we discussed that night we got together and created a discipleship group. That group has been developing and I have great confidence that it will become a very profitable group.
Thursday was the beginning of the third phasers dream come true. They were coming up with the plan for the battalion initiation for ERT. It was developing but no one really had much of an idea then. However, they were planning. It was on this day that ERT got 110 gigs, and each gig was 5 burpies apiece. Thats right, they did 550 burpies that night. It took them about an hour.
Today, Friday, was the PT test. I couldnt do it in the morning because I had to keep track of everyone else. So myself and the other unit leaders did it at 5 o'clock that evening. It was HOT! But there was some cloud cover for which I am very grateful! I got my worst run time ever while here at ALERT. but I still did good in push ups and situps. I hurt my knee sometime about three weeks ago and it has been bothering me ever sense. Unfortunately I dont know what I did to it, so I have been doing stuff with it hurt that I probably shouldnt be doing. It was this night that they did the battalion initiation. it was a lot of fun and I think the guys in ERT enjoyed it.

Ok so I ran out of time to finish this the way I wanted to, so I will have to give you a short update to finish this thing off.  So on Saturday we did a night time tactical thing. It was pretty cool.  Then on Sunday, well I dont remember what I did!  But I'm sure it was for the good!  :)
Monday started high angle with ERT. They seemed to really like it. They had a short week this time. Normally they have to do some stuff on Saturdays, and this time they only have until Thursday. (today)
I have not heard how they did on their tests yet.  The week started kind of slow for me, but has steadily picked up.  tomorrow morning we leave for Chicago to drop off the ERT guys who are going to "Journey to the Heart". Then the rest of us are going to keep on going to Michigan to work at a father son camp.  We will be there until the next Tuesday.  I dont think I will have internet access while I am there so I will probably have to update you on that when I get back.

Please pray for the people here. Some of the men in the battalion are big on conspiracy theories and some of the they can make sound very real!  So pray that God would keep me attentive and give me a discerning spirit. These guys aren't your normal conspiracy people. They really live what they talk. The most interesting part about these guys is that their theories dont stop at like the government, they continue into biblical theology.  Most of there stuff they like to back up with scripture. Now whether they are taking in out of context or not I dont really know. That is why I need a very discerning spirit. Because frankly, if what they are saying is true then there are curtain things that I need to do. well it is now 11:50 p.m. and I am getting up at 4:30.. So I think I need to go to bed.  So until next time, May God bless you, may He make His face to shine down upon you. And may you all remember one word, OTHERS!

  1. I don't exactly know what ALERT is (or gigs and burpies) but it sounds exhausting!
