MMT S Carolina

As I mentioned before we had some scheduling mishaps for our second week, but everything is working out for the good. Jonathan Boulden knew some people in the area who directed to a Christian camp called Camp Marietta. The people at the camp are very nice and gave us a place to stay for a couple of days, and in return we are doing some maintenance for them.

We arrived at camp Marietta late Saturday night, greeted the people, then hit the sack. The next day we went to the church of the people Jonathan knew. It was a larger church of about 500 people. However it was much different then most bigger/mega churches. It was three churches in the area that had combined together. So it had a very family/comunity feel to it. It is also the only church I have ever been to where the pastors were outside in the parking lot greeting people as the came in. They were very outreach focused and all about turnover. They did have a rock band, but since they were about turnover the band probably won't be there for long.

After church we went out to eat with the family that Jonathan knew. While we were there Hunter Kindall invited showed up so we went to his house for the afternoon. That night we we divided and conquered. I took two guys and went to the Kindalls church and the rest went to Tim Cooks church; another friend of Jonathan's.

Church I went to was pretty cool. It was what I would consider a true mega church. There were about 1,000 people there. They had a full orchestra and everyone wore their best clothes; suits and ties. There a few things I found very unique about this church, they sang from hymnals, the pastor spoke for a full hour and a half, and they didn't have a kids church. Just a nursery. Everyone else was in the service. Oh, and it didn't have a rock band. Which astounded me considering how how many young people were there. Afterwards we went to they college aged small group meeting; there were about 75 people there. But when they told us we going to go to the small group at someone's house, first I wasn't expecting that many people, and second I was expecting a lesson or discussion time of some sort, but there was neither. It was basically a party. When we got to the house, mansion, we ate some food, socialized a little the played games. They had pool, ping pong, foozball, and air hockey. It wasn't what I was expecting but it was fun.

After the small group time we met up with everyone at the Cooks house where we visited for a while, then we went back to the camp and hit the sack.

Today finds us working at the camp and as normally goes they underestimated what we were able to accomplish so we are out of work currently and it's only 10:30 A.M. But we shall see what happens.

MMT - Memphis TN

We are now finished in Memphis and are on our way to S. Carolina. I want to send out a special thanks to the Wills Family for putting up with us and all our antics and giving and us a place to stay! Also for the food and the sacrifice of their time and energy! It was a very enjoyable stay, and it was good to see them again after 2+ years!

We had some scheduling mid communication so instead of going to the Schillings in N. Carolina we are headed to S. Carolina to Tim Cook and Hunter Kindles area. There we will be staying at a camp, doing some work projects for them as well. We will be mainly putting in some windows and finishing some other projects. I don't know any more info at the moment, but I will write it on here as soon as I know.

MMT

Today started with a visit to an elderly persons home. It was a very nice elderly lady we were working for, she has 2 sons who are ill and can no longer take care of the house. One has been sick since WW2 and recently became bed ridden. And the other recently was diagnosed with a blood disorder where his blood is turning into fiber. We mowed her lawn raked leaves and trimmed her bushes.

Now I'm about to go share ALERT with a couple kids who are interested in ALERT.

MMT

Thank you Stoner family for all your hospitality and everything else y'all did for us while we were in TN!

Today we are going out to Summerville and another place, I can't remember, to help do some work at some houses. Also I'm going to meet with a youth paster and a couple of kids in his group who are interested in ALERT. And I have no clue what else I'm going to do! So we'll  find out.

MMT Day 6 Part 2

Today was amazing! I got to reunite with some old friends, and we got to do some hard work. We buried some electrical pipe, cleaned out a garage, put mulch out for a garden, and dug a couple holes for a fish pond. It was good to see the Grunewalds and Becky again. We were there all day doing those things. We also got a tour of the new mission house which was awesome! It's amazing to see what God is doing for them!

And this is what we call reading the paper ALERT style! :) That is actually the garden we laid out and put mulch on. We did get to have some fun with the work we did!
